Black Hills of South Dakota & Wyoming Expeditions Adventure Index

Of course, Lupe’s life of adventures all started here, close to home, in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota!

On January 15, 2012, the day after she turned 13 months old, Lupe and SPHP went on her very first Black Hills, SD Expedition.  Lupe got to take Deerfield Trail No. 40 along Rapid Creek west of Silver City all the way to its confluence with Slate Creek.  Although it was rather cold and snowy out, Lupe loved the freedom and excitement of exploring in the  Black Hills!

Black Hills, SD & WY Expeditions have been a regular, and eagerly anticipated, feature of Lupe’s life ever since.  Lupe has climbed a great many of the Black Hill’s named peaks at least once, but with over 1.2 million acres in the Black Hills National Forest, there are always new places to explore.

Although the Black Hills encompass a few very famous places like Mt. Rushmore, most of Lupe’s Black Hills Expeditions are to remote parts of the hills almost never seen by tourists, and seldom visited even by local inhabitants.  Hidden somewhere out there, there’s gold in them thar Black Hills, and a lucky, high-spirited American Dingo, too!
